Tobacco smoke is often very annoying and uncomfortable. While in open grounds, you can just move away from a particular place in order to get rid of the smell. But, things get a bit uneasy when you’re sitting in a car that has been exposed to cigarette smoke for long. This smoke can be very uncomfortable for people who don’t smoke or even sometimes for people who do. Once the car’s interior has absorbed the cigarette smell due to regular smoking inside the car, it becomes a daunting task to get rid of the smell.
However, if you’re willing to try one of our below-mentioned solutions, you won’t have to take your car to a professional in order to get rid of the smell.
So here are some of the easiest and quickest ways you can get rid of the cigarette smell in your car:-
This is the easiest as well as the oldest solution to the smoke problem. There are two ways in which you can use vinegar to get rid of the smell. The first way is to pour some vinegar into a cup and leave the cup inside the car overnight. This method takes around 10-12 hours. However, if you’re looking for a quicker way, you can just create a mixture of the 1/4th cup of vinegar and 2 cups of water and wipe your car through it. Once you’ve wiped your car with the mixture, your car will have a very vinegar smell which will go off very quickly.
If vinegar’s smell is too redolent and unpleasant for you to wash your car with, baking soda can be a great alternative. Spread some baking soda on your car’s seats, roof, mats, and other porous surfaces. Now, leave the car for an hour or more as per your convenience. Now wipe off the baking soda with the help of a vacuum. This will not only remove the bad odor of cigarettes but will also clean up the porous parts of your car.
If you don’t want to remove the cigarette smell by replacing it with some other smell, charcoal is what you can use. Unlike vinegar and baking soda, charcoal doesn’t replace the smell but in fact, absorbs it. You can keep a bag filled with charcoal in your car for a few hours or overnight. The bag can be kept in the backside of the car. After keeping it overnight, the cigarette smell gets absorbed by the car.
Car Air Fresheners
You can also use air fresheners for smoke, in order to remove the smell from your car. This step works quickly. Also, you can have an air freshener in the dashboard with you all the time in case of emergency.
This is the slowest, yet, the most efficient method of them all. You can put small pieces of newspapers and spread it in your car all over the seats, mats and other parts. Newspapers are slow, yet, good absorbers of smells. With this method, you’ll have to wait up to 48 hours to get rid of the cigarette smell.
The above-mentioned methods will help you get rid of the cigarette smell from your car easily. Each of the methods has a significant quality of its own which the others don’t possess. You can either get rid of the smell by replacing it with another or by using a smell absorbent material.
